Tarnished, are you tired of getting stomped by the Draconic Tree Sentinel guarding the main gate to Leyndell? 😭 Or maybe you just want a more scenic, less... explosive route to the Altus Plateau? Look no further! The Grand Lift of Dectus remains, even in 2026, the most straightforward and majestic way to ascend to the next major region. But this elevator doesn't run on Runes—it requires a special key: the complete Dectus Medallion. This guide will walk you through snagging both halves and riding that sweet lift to glory! 🎮✨

The Medallion Hunt Begins!
Before you can enjoy the panoramic views from the lift, you need to assemble the ✨ Dectus Medallion ✨. It's split into two halves, guarded in two very different—and dangerous—forts across the Lands Between.
The Left Half: Fort Haight in Mistwood
Your first stop is the relatively peaceful (well, safer) region of Limgrave. The left half of the medallion is chilling in Fort Haight, located in the southern part of the Mistwood. To get there, start from the Third Church of Marika and ride south along the road.
You'll pass some scary Runebears and annoying Demihumans, but stay on the path until you reach the Fort Haight West Site of Grace. This fort isn't boss-heavy, but it's crawling with knights, guards, rats, and even a Pumpkin Head! 🎃

Fort Haight Raid Strategy:
-
From the grace, charge up the hill, dodging ballista bolts.
-
Grab the Golden Seed near the entrance—free upgrade! 🌱
-
Inside, your goal is to climb the interior scaffolding. Watch out for rats and enemies throwing fire pots!
-
At the top of the wall, you'll face a tough Knight with a spear and shield. Defeat him for the Ash of War: Bloody Slash (still a meta pick for bleed builds in 2026!).
-
Behind where the knight stood, there's a lone tower. Go in, climb the ladder, and open the chest at the top to claim your prize: the
Dectus Medallion (Left).

The Right Half: Fort Faroth in Dragonbarrow
Now for the spicy part. 😰 The right half is in Fort Faroth, nestled in the terrifying, scarlet-rot-infested region of Dragonbarrow, Caelid. Don't worry, you have a fast travel shortcut!
-
Return to the Third Church of Marika in Limgrave.
-
Head slightly northeast to the end of the small pond.
-
Hidden in the bushes is a glowing teleporter. Use it—it sends you directly to the Bestial Sanctum in Dragonbarrow. Talk about convenient! 🚀
From the Bestial Sanctum, follow the road south, then west, then east. Grab the Sites of Grace you see along the way—trust me, you'll want them. Soon, you'll encounter the massive, decaying body of Elder Dragon Greyoll, surrounded by her smaller, more aggressive dragon children. 🐉 You can avoid combat by riding around Greyoll's tail to find the Fort Faroth Site of Grace right behind her.

Navigating the Nightmare Fort:
Fort Faroth is DARK and full of horrors: Giant Bats, Chanting Winged Dames, and more rats. Bring a torch or lantern! 🔦
You have two options here:
-
The Stealthy Approach: Slowly clear the main hall, pulling enemies one by one.
-
The Speedrun Tactic: Just sprint through the entire room, ignoring everything, and make a beeline for the ladder at the far end. (Pro tip: Spend your Runes first if you try this! 💀)
Climb that ladder. At the top, a chest awaits. Open it to finally get the
Dectus Medallion (Right). Congrats! There's also a powerful Talisman here (Radagon's Soreseal), but let's focus on the lift first.
Ascending to the Altus Plateau
With both medallion halves united, it's lift time! 🎉 But first, you need to reach it.
The Grand Lift of Dectus is located north of Liurnia of the Lakes. You need to get past the Raya Lucaria Academy gate. You don't have to beat the dungeon, but you do need a Glintstone Key to pass the magical barrier.
Once you have access, travel to the Main Academy Gate Site of Grace. Face north and interact with the blue magic barrier just before the broken bridge. It will teleport you to the other side.
From there, it's a straight shot (well, straight through some ruins, enemy camps, and catapult fire 😅). Follow the road north until you see the massive lift built into the cliff face.
The Grand Finale:
Step onto the platform, and you'll see the prompt to 'Hoist Medallion'. Do it! Witness the incredible animation as the ancient mechanism activates, carrying you upwards to the golden vistas of the Altus Plateau. You've earned this victory lap! 🏆
Quick Recap & Pro Tips for 2026:
-
Left Medallion: Fort Haight, Limgrave. No boss, just a tough knight.
-
Right Medallion: Fort Faroth, Dragonbarrow, Caelid. Use the hidden teleporter from Limgrave!
-
Bring Light to Fort Faroth. It's pitch black inside.
-
You need the Glintstone Key to reach the lift area, but not to defeat Rennala.
-
The lift is the easiest main path to Altus Plateau, avoiding major gate bosses.
Now go forth, Tarnished! The Erdtree awaits, and your path just got a whole lot grander. Don't forget to like and subscribe for more 2026 Elden Ring guides! 💪🔥
